We have all experienced a bad coffee! Preparing espresso coffee in a commercial setting or at home is never as easy as it appears. ABC of Espresso is an introduction to the art of espresso coffee. Any one wanting to work in a café should do this course as a pre-requisite for any further courses. If you do not have access to an espresso machine – you can practice supervised on ours.

In the Advanced Class you will learn more about coffee, espresso, the grinder and milk texturing and you will be well on your way to the National Accreditation – Prepare and Serve Espresso Coffee.

Making a great Coffee @ Home is a skill and much of the quality depends as much on your understanding of the coffee bean as on than your understanding of the equipment you are using to brew coffee. ABC of Espresso Making

This is an introduction to espresso coffee and will provide you with basic skills and knowledge so that you can progress to the more complex aspects of espresso making. You will learn how the espresso coffee menu is constructed, how to extract espresso, milk texturing and you will practice making espresso drinks. You will also learn how to safely operate and clean the espresso machine and grinder.

This course is essential learning for anyone who wishes to make a start in the espresso coffee industry.

Advanced Espresso


Duration: 6 hours
Cost: $230

This course covers the advanced skills and knowledge needed to prepare and serve espresso coffee. It covers – factors that affect the extraction rate of espresso, setting and adjusting the grinder, advanced milk texturing and advanced coffee menu and order processing. You will learn about the coffee industry, coffee cultivation and processing, roasting and blending and you will taste and analyse the range of single origin coffees.

This is an advanced course and students must have industry experience or have completed ABC of Espresso as a prerequisite.

Practice Sessions
Cost $30

Practice sessions are held on most Friday mornings between 10am and 1pm. These sessions are for students who do not have access to a coffee machine but need to practice their newly learned skills. Coffee @ Home

For people who love coffee and want to know more about it or if you simply need to make better coffee at home… this course is fun and informative and covers history, cultivation and processing of coffee. We will roast and taste some single origin coffees and learn about plungers, stovetop coffee and domestic espresso machines. We also take a look at how coffee is made in cafes and you will have a chance to make coffee
